Frisium usage

Frisium belongs to the class of medications known as benzodiazepines. It is used to treat certain seizure disorders. It is used as an add-on to other anti-seizure medications when extra treatment for control of seizures is needed. Seizures are caused by uncontrolled firing of neurons in the brain (also referred to as increased electrical activity in the brain). This medication works by reducing the rate of firing of these neurons.

Do not increase your dose, use it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time than prescribed because this drug can be habit-forming. Also, if used for an extended period, do not suddenly stop using this drug without your doctor's approval. Over time, this drug may not work as well. Consult your doctor if this medication stops working well.

Frisium side effects

Consult your doctor if any of these most common side effects persist or become bothersome:
Drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, fatigue, loss of coordination, or nausea may occur. Constipation, loss of appetite, muscle weakness, dry mouth, tremor, weight gain, or restlessness rarely occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: a rapid/pounding/irregular heartbeat, changes in vision, slurred speech, confusion, depression, irritability, behavioral changes. In the unlikely event you have a serious allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precaution

Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: kidney disease, liver disease, respiratory disease, depression, severe muscle weakness, certain types of glaucoma, history of chemical dependence, any allergies. Since this medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness, use caution operating machinery or engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving. Limit intake of alcohol while taking this medication as it may increase the drowsiness/dizziness effects of this drug. The elderly may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication. Use cautiously. This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking this medication.
Frisium passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before you breast feed.
Blood counts and other laboratory tests are advised if
this medication is used for a prolonged period.

Frisium drug interactions

Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: medication for depression, narcotic pain relievers, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, antihistamines, other seizure medications. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Missed dose

Try to take each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

How to store Frisium

Store this medication at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
